- Be first generation college bound student (neither parent living in home has a four year degree)
- Be taking a college prep curriuclum
- Have a 2.0 G.P.A. in high school
- Display potential to succeed at the post secondary level
- Attend Saint Louis Public School (SLPS) target school ( Gateway STEM, Vashon High school and Soldan International Studies High school) or live in the surrounding area
- Participant makes commitment to participate in all services and activities
- Must complete an intake and interview process with family.
HEC Upward Bound is part of the TRiO programs. Upward Bound is a collaboration of school, college and community. The mission of HEC Upward is it exists to provide the necessary training, opportunities, and resources to ensure students successfully enter and complete post-secondary education.
